Therefore it is a very good idea for anybody who is thinking of starting a new business to try and do it with a friend, having another person to help with all the organising and problem solving is worth a lot, it will probably mean the difference between success and failure.

In the end, splitting the profits might mean less money in the short term but defiantly more money and stability in the long run.

As you read my previous post on making money online or starting a home business, it is clear that after the hard work of starting up a home or online business life does not get much easier and that you need to keep on working hard to sustain your business and to make it grow. To keep this level of workload going you need to motivate yourself and those that work with you on a regular basis.

To keep yourself motivated is one of the harder things to accomplish, especially when going through hard times and the best way I know is to be very disciplined on yourself and the things you do that affect the people around you. Keeping in good health is as important as taking breaks away from the business and spending quality time with your loved ones is a sure way of staying motivated.

The same goes for the people that work with you in running the business as they are also under stress and need the same, if not more so, breaks and motivation that you need. So do things that motivate yourself, your family and your staff as this is essential to the success of your business. Read “Think and Grow Rich” once a year from front to back, it definitely helps.

Up to this point we have been looking at ideas on how to make money by starting a home business or making money online by typing posts or articles for money. We have also looked at how to start a home business and given a few online websites that you can join to start making money online from home.

What we need to discuss is what is needed to keep that home business running and most importantly to grow the business into a sustainable enterprise that will keep making money even in bad times.

To ensure that you have a healthy business you need to make sure that the product you are selling is of top quality. You are normally competing against big chain stores who very seldom sell a top quality product for a fairly cheap price. You can not compete against that but you can offer a better product even at a higher price as long as its quality and functionality is better than the store bought one’. You must also see that you are supplying the latest and best product available as these chain stores are sometimes fast off the mark in sourcing the latest product available.

It is also advisable to try and keep your business current, meaning that you must always be aware of new products in your general business sphere and making sure that your knowledge of your products are above average and also the usage of it in real live. In short, the effort you put in in starting your business must be repeated over and over again otherwise your business will not grow and eventually die.

MAKING MONEY UPPING YOUR SERVICE LEVELS

In the previous post on making money from home, I ended with the well known quote , CUSTOMER IS KING. I think that there is not a business person in the western world that does not know this famous quote and only about twenty percent of those actually adhere to it. Very few businesses today have customer satisfaction as its primary goal, because they only want to make money.

This to me does not make much sense as without customers there is no business and no profits, so I cannot see the point of not having customer satisfaction at the top of your company’s list of goals or mission statements. Then there are the companies that have this as their number one statement but when dealing with them you find that nobody has told the employees about the seriousness of this statement.

If you think logically about this subject you cannot fail to see that for each unhappy customer that looses you X amount of realises you also stand to lose x amount of new business in as much as that the unsatisfied customer will not give you any new references but will, when the opportunity arises, warn off anybody who is an existing or potential client. The result of this poor service over an extended period can snowball into a disastrous situation.

One thing that is also a fact is that the customer is king in your company until you employ somebody to service that customer. Then if you do not insist on excellent service level awareness in your company, the number one issue, you have lost. To most people today giving good service does not come naturally.

The one sure way in keeping the customer king, is to treat your employees like princess and princesses, then they will treat your customers as kings and queens. This works ninety percent of the time and will definitely at least double your turnover and profit.

As you are aware from my previous post on making money from home you will remember that we looked at ideas for starting a home business by finding things that people complain about or jobs that people don’t want to do, like cleaning drains. Well, today we will look at businesses that already exist but offer a poor service; these companies are openly inviting somebody with some drive and a service orientated mindset to open a similar business while offering excellent service.

This is an ideal way to set yourself up in a home business as you are going into a business that is obvious making some money as it currently exists in spite of offering bad service and/or inferior products.

So if you can offer them the same product or better, with excellent service added on you are well on your way. It is always a good idea to first look at what is already being offered business wise in your area and how professionally it is offered. From this investigation you will find some interesting ideas on what to do in setting up your home business and what not to do,
