MAKING MONEY UPPING YOUR SERVICE LEVELS

In the previous post on making money from home, I ended with the well known quote , CUSTOMER IS KING. I think that there is not a business person in the western world that does not know this famous quote and only about twenty percent of those actually adhere to it. Very few businesses today have customer satisfaction as its primary goal, because they only want to make money.

This to me does not make much sense as without customers there is no business and no profits, so I cannot see the point of not having customer satisfaction at the top of your company’s list of goals or mission statements. Then there are the companies that have this as their number one statement but when dealing with them you find that nobody has told the employees about the seriousness of this statement.

If you think logically about this subject you cannot fail to see that for each unhappy customer that looses you X amount of realises you also stand to lose x amount of new business in as much as that the unsatisfied customer will not give you any new references but will, when the opportunity arises, warn off anybody who is an existing or potential client. The result of this poor service over an extended period can snowball into a disastrous situation.

One thing that is also a fact is that the customer is king in your company until you employ somebody to service that customer. Then if you do not insist on excellent service level awareness in your company, the number one issue, you have lost. To most people today giving good service does not come naturally.

The one sure way in keeping the customer king, is to treat your employees like princess and princesses, then they will treat your customers as kings and queens. This works ninety percent of the time and will definitely at least double your turnover and profit.

As you are aware from my previous post on making money from home you will remember that we looked at ideas for starting a home business by finding things that people complain about or jobs that people don’t want to do, like cleaning drains. Well, today we will look at businesses that already exist but offer a poor service; these companies are openly inviting somebody with some drive and a service orientated mindset to open a similar business while offering excellent service.

This is an ideal way to set yourself up in a home business as you are going into a business that is obvious making some money as it currently exists in spite of offering bad service and/or inferior products.

So if you can offer them the same product or better, with excellent service added on you are well on your way. It is always a good idea to first look at what is already being offered business wise in your area and how professionally it is offered. From this investigation you will find some interesting ideas on what to do in setting up your home business and what not to do,

Remember that the customer is king.

We have looked at different ways of making money online or from running a home business and all of them can work. And it is currently working for hundreds and thousands of folks all over the world. This fact alone should be proof enough for you to start something from home and just to help you to start a home business making lots of money, here is a couple of ideas.

When looking for a new business one should always first look at what people are complaining about. Folks that complain are most of the time complaining about things they can not get or things they can get but is not of an acceptable standard. This can be a major money making bussines;

So open your ears and listen what people are complaining about, it may be worth your while.

Typing articles for online publishing companies is a very good idea for making money from home; if you feel that you are good enough in the literacy area.
This has the potential to become a permanent job that you do from home going online to sell your articles to various big publishing houses.

The growth of the internet over the last couple of years has resulted in a big demand for good articles on a wide range of topics and the pay is not bad.

MAKING MONEY SELLING PRODUCT FTOM HOME

In a previous post I said we will discuss how to select possible products to sell from a home bassed money making business. Anything that people need, want or desire must be sold to them by somebody, so you can sell anything. The secret is to find the product or products that are needed, wanted or desired by people in your area, town or district and preferably products that are available in your country of residence.

Basic rule to keep in mind is as follows

1 What people need – is goods and products need on a daily basis to survive and do their daily labour and chores. These types of products are normally sold by stores and hyper stores that makes it very difficult to compete. There are exceptions to this and what has worked well in the past was buying household cleaning liquids and repacking them, especially if they are more concentrated so a little goes a long way. These products are difficult to compete in and normally profits are low. Thus high volumes are needed to make it worth your while.
2 Products people want – are one step up from the needs. These are like a nice pair of shoes or special running shoes, dark gasses, a good wine, and so forth. These things you don’t need to survive day to day, but it would be nice to have if you had the money. So if you have the money you will buy it. Most of the hyper stores deal in these products but are expensive and limited in range. Specialized stores also deal in these products but are very expensive and also limited in range. This market is easier to compete in as you can sometimes get a price advantage if you get a supplier that is trying to get into your specific area, or a brand new product that nobody else have. To compete in this market means to go to business fares and expos. Importing specialized products are also possible but importing products yourself is a business venture all by itself.
3 The desired product – are the goods that you normally only buy once in a lifetime or at best once a year. With these products price does not really matter. If the desire is big enough and the availability few, people will buy, even if they do not have the money for it. They will even borrow. A very nice market to get involved in, although unfortunately it takes much greater effort to find suitable products and sometimes importing is the only answer to get jewellery, lingerie, cosmetics, specialized tools and stylized cutlery, etcetera.

Apart from sourcing your own product range you can join companies that cater for people wanting to sell products from home. The party type product does especially well in a new young area. You can also manufacture your own products, but more about this in a later post.

WHAT DOES A MONEY MAKING SALES PERSON LOOK LIKE

In the previous post we briefly looked at sales and what it entails. What is still a fact is that it is one of the best and highest money making professions in the world. I also suggested that you look at yourself to see if you would like to make money selling.

If this is the way you want to make money you need to know a little more about what selling to people is all about.

The first thing a vendor who wants to make money needs to do is; know your product and what it can do. This one of the fundamentals of the sales process. Think about it, if a salesman comes to your door selling a new appliance to you but can’t demonstrate it or answer simple questions about his product, you will be a fool to purchase it from him. So know your product, know it very well.

The second important point is how you present yourself to you clients; you need to be well dressed and well groomed. A successful merchant must look and behave successful, nobody wants to buy anything from anybody that looks like a bum and smells of booze. They feel that such a person is not making money, thus his product is the same as him, inferior and of no use to anybody. Unfortunately these two concepts go together. So remember, LOOK successful, and BE successful.

Another interesting point is that you must be able to listen to what your client is saying. They will almost all of the time unknowingly inform you what will cause them to buy the product. People like to talk and specifically about themselves or somebody close to them. If you want to sell lots of product and make lots of money, learn to listen. Listen and register what they are saying. There is nothing that loses a sale faster than a salesman who is insecure and inattentive. Customers pick up on this very quickly and bye-bye sale and bye-bye money.

The most important factor in sales is the closing of the sale. In other words the point of the sales process when the customer has decided to buy but does not yet realizes it. This is when you must know it is time to try and close. This is not the easiest thing to learn and some professionals belief you have it or you don’t.

I tend to agree but there are people who have the ability to know when a sale is ready for closing but are not aware that they know (there, I always wanted to say that). The best way to learn the closing phase is to read a couple of books on the subject and get hold of a book about body language. A simple rule that I use is to, at some point in the sale, rather sooner than later, run through the points discussed so far, especially those that he asked about. Get a positive acknowledgement on each point and after the third or forth “yes”, close the deal. If he hesitates on one or two of the points or gives a negative, it is not yet time for closing. This is the easiest and most successful way of closing a sale.

The last phase of the selling cycle is as important as the above and in some circumstances more important, is after sales service. Is the product delivered on time as promised? Are all things promised, delivered? What happens when the product breaks, etcetera.

You know all these things because you expect them from your suppliers every day of your live. You know how disappointed you are when you get bad service. Well don’t give it. It is as simple as that.

Remember this, the best and cheapest advertising is word of mouth but remember it works just as well if not better the other way round, bad service bad advertising.

If you think you can do all of the above, sales is for you and a little studying on the subject will work wonders towards your money making efforts.

MAKING MONEY FROM HOME SELLING

Selling what, you might ask. That is a good question and needs to be looked at at greater length. Before you investigate the selling what part of the question you must first determine if you are capable of doing the selling part.

This is an age old question and is normally answered by most people, who do not earn their living selling, with: “selling is easy, everybody can sell”, or “everybody is a salesperson, they are constantly selling themselves to everybody else”. This might be true in the broader sense of the word but selling product, any product, to the public is not easy at all.

The one thing that is fact of live is that salespersons earn some of the highest incomes in the world, therefore for making money from home this can also be one off the best money making ideas you can investigate.

So before you spend time looking for product to sell you must decide if you are a salesperson or not, I will cover what to look for in the next post.

On how much money you will make depends very much on the product you end up selling. This can be toys for children to tools for dads or lingerie for the ladies. We will look at all this on a later post, In the mean time go and chat to some of your friends who has been or are currently salespersons to get an idea if you would like that kind of job.

There are quite a few sites on the internet where one can make money typing posts, reviews and comments while getting paid for the effort. The money is not great but it depends on the effort you are prepared to put in, so ultimately it comes down to a numbers game. The more you put in, the more you get out.

The thing to do to get the maximum benefit from these sites is to register with as many as feasible and then run as many as you can handle at the same time. In the beginning it seems to be very intense and confusing, but if you keep track of what you post where and with whom, you will soon find it quite easy and you will be able to take on more and more.
