Knitting has always been considered a pastime that grandmothers did for her extended family, and was passed on from mother to daughter if the offspring was interested enough to take the time to learn. But with females getting more and more involved in the formal business world, there is not enough time to learn this old art form and thus very few young and not so young mothers can knit, and is forced to protect her offspring from the cold by buying from the local store. This has opened an opportunity for people like you and me, to start a money making business.
These store-bought knitted products are normally of a fair quality, but unfortunately does not offer a wide enough range to satisfy today’s fashion conscious market. This is where the home entrepreneur comes in and starts a business that can grow into something big enough to become a formal full time money making venture.
It is one of the business opportunities that will require a capital injection, depending on how big and sophisticated you want to make it. You can, for instance, knit school jerseys for your local school with a thicker thread that will be warmer in the end than the store-bought article or you could knit specialist jerseys that are one of a kind. You could also knit on order. And you do not have to knit only jerseys but baby layettes or shawls and even special blankets. . When the product you are marketing is to do with peoples family members and your quality is good, price does not matter, thus making good money from good quality.
Just remember that for all these items you need wool or cotton thread and you have to know how much it will cost you to complete one article.
If you know of a few friends or stay at home moms that need money and can knit, you could always start a knitting circle where you all knit and share your knowledge as well as the money you make out of your projects.
Some more ideas and patterns on this subject later.
Regards, Charley
